Default Congratz Guru - Your still elite GW web site :)

I noticed this RSS news feed from Anet

Quote:
Fansites Reviewed; Listing Updated
The many sites who are members of the Guild Wars Community Fansite Program have each been given a thorough review, and their placement in the program and the list of features they offer the community has just been fully updated. You can note the changes on the Fansite Listing. And remember, fansite news is presented Thursdays on the Community News pages.
And for english language web sites, your one of the two now that are still considered elite.

Just wanted to use this chance to say thank you for running a great web site and congratz on keeping your status (I didn't think you would lose it but some other's did lose the "elite" status).

Yeah, kind of frustrating... I know. Not too happy about it right now. I am in contact with all the people who need to know. I am harrassing and making them cringe everytime they see my name.

Default Comments from Gaile Gray on the Elite Fansite changes.

Comments from Gaile Gray found on another fansite:

FYI, the review process took several weeks, hundreds of hours, and involved 9 people who attended a two-day global mini-summit meeting with site reviews at the top of the agenda. It could have been a simpler process, we could have taken less time or trouble, but we were dedicated to being fair, reasonable, and as accurate as possible in the assessments, which is turn assures that the rankings themselves are meaningful and valid.

Out of those meetings came considerable feedback about each fansite. Some of that feedback was shared directly with the webmater of each fansite at Official, Elite, or Specialty ranking. Therefore, no change should be a surprise to those more directly involved with the operation of the site. Naturally all sites can be reviewed again in the very near future for a possible change. But the assessments were so thorough, an appeal at this point isn't likely to succeed in an immediate ranking change.

Please understand that a fansite's ranking is not determined by the passion of its participants or the liveliness of its forums. A site is judged by a very complete set of guidelines and requirements, and most of those pertain to the actual site content. We don't assess a site based on the perceived wisdom of the site's forum members, or the collective win/loss record of the participants, or the number of PvP or PvE threads, or the GW rank of the forum leaders. We do incorporate a review of the forums and the forum moderation in the reviews -- no site would make Official or Elite without good moderation -- but the primary determiner of ranking is what the site offers to the visitor on the main pages.

A quick review of the sites that hold Elite status will show you growing content, up-to-date references, and a zeal for providing the community with useful resources. We don't say they must include "Resource A" or "Article Type B." Elite sites run the gamut, and each has an individual character and, for most, a certain viewpoint or focus, as well. An Elite Fansite continues to grow, continues to improve, keeps up on news, keeps current on game issues, and maintains whatever it does offer in the best possible condition. An Elite site updates inaccurate or outmoded content and expands on sections in place that haven't seen any new content in a long period of time.

So with no offense intended for any site that is changed in ranking, rankings do need to be adjusted because the reputation of the entire program rests on validity and truth. We owe it to the community of players to assure that sites hold a designation that clearly confers the quality of what the site has to offer. The community expects, and we will assure, that a site not hold a designation that is belied by what they offer that very community. Conversely, sites can change in an upward direction with effort from the site's members, and any site is eligible for re-review in the future.

I have a hard time determining which I'm more addicted to - this site or playing GuildWars itself.

Excellent job on managing the site! Now if you could just keep the reins on JR...

Is there something wrong with the server side since sometime pages won't load or have database error message pop-up for me.

I've been reading a fairly high-traffic forum that used the same software, and seen the same error. As I understand it, too many connections/high bandwidth use generates it. I could be mistaken, but it seems consistent.

Also: Congrats to Guru.

This does seem a bit odd. Though, to be honest, Wiki is a very much unique fansite, and shouldn't really be equated to any other.

I also vaguely wonder why Team-iQ isn't even on the list--by request, or by chance?

Congrats to Guru! Aside from Wiki for nuts n bolts info, this is where I spend nearly all my GW-related time.

just 2 complaints, one is the well-documented server suckage, the other was the 3 day forum ban (supposed to be 1 day) I got for posting twice across two days, 23 hours and 40 minutes apart

I would just like to say that GWguru is by far my favorite GW forum/fansite now. On top of that Guildwiki is one of, if not THE most, usefull Guild Wars tool on the internet... hands down.

I don't want to name any names, but you guys blow the competing GW fansites away. I am definitely impressed and browse GWguru every day.

Since i got banned from the german elite-fansite wartower.de , GWGuru is my favourite.

if someone from the wt reads this: tell scar that im spelled SaGGGan and not Saggen

and btw, you deal more damage with frenzy than with flurry
